Today, I have the great privilege to share with you the enormous investment potential of Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency in Akwa Ibom State - a region so blessed with resources that it really does constitute an ideal investment environment.
Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency comprises the three local government areas of Eastern Obolo, Mkpat Enin and Ikot Abasi. Situated on the South West border of Akwa Ibom State bordering the Atlantic Ocean to the South and the Imo River and Rivers State to the East, the region boasts an excellent location for any new business.
Ikot Abasi is the home to the Aluminium Smelter Company of Nigeria (ALSCON) and the Ibom Power Company (IPC). These two industrial power houses form the foundation of industrial development in the area. With a combined generating capacity of more than 700MW , Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency is one of the few locations in Nigeria where 24/7 power is a daily reality.
The ALSCON harbour and it's associated export processing zone status provides excellent marine access to the whole West African region whilst the nearby Ibom International Airport provides easy access to Lagos, Abuja and the international community.
The region is also home to a large reservoir of highly educated professionals and skilled artisans who have many years experience working in the engineering, manufacturing, power and oil sectors. With such an abundance of physical and human resources combined with the proactive management of the Akwa
Ibom State Government who have committed considerable resources for the development of the industrial and commercial infrastructure, it is my belief that Ikot Abasi Federal Constituency is one of the most attractive investment locations in the whole of Nigeria.
